40 Days of Forgiveness – Day 33 The Truth of the Matter

“To be fully seen by somebody, then, and be loved anyhow – this is a human offering that can border on miraculous.”

~ Elizabeth Gilbert

Ah those moments of truth.

I love when a person can find the courage to stop hiding and reveal the truth about how they really feel.

Of course, a person must have trust and feel safe to do so. When they do, they are free to reveal their emotional truth to themselves and a listening, caring coach.

Emotional truth is usually raw and set deep within. It comes out in waves like an ocean tide crashing upon the shore. It’s like a force of nature, full of passion, power, and punch.

Emotional truth most of the time has been hiding in a person for years and decades, ready to be released. You might say, “this is what I REALLY think of you!” So, it is no surprise when that truth comes out swiftly and directly.

However, you can do this in a confidential, safe environment where a person feels ready to reveal that which they would never say to the other person standing before them.

It’s an environment that ultimately provides healing in a nurturing way.

After about 20 minutes or so, its over.

Years and years of resentment can be released and be over with forever.

It takes courage to want to be free of pain and suffering and that’s just what happens when a person opens to being done with it.

If there is a “toughest” part of the forgiveness process, releasing those raw bottled emotions is usually it.

Once removed, however, the door is open to replace negative emotions with positive ones of love, mercy, compassion, and forgiveness.

It’s a miracle to be a part of.
